Annual Bridge Fund Celebration
Join us for our annual celebration to thank the supporters of TBF and to introduce us to more neighbors.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Some time ago, John Siebart and his wife, Dr. Mary-Beth Malay, learned about TBF through several friends at Pelican's Nest Golf Club. Their interest in our organization increased after a chance meeting of John and Mike Beebe at another charity's fund raising event.
After further discussion, John and Mary- Beth indicated their intent to make a leadership gift to TBF. "We want to challenge others who are able to do so to consider making a larger contribution to support The Bridge Fund in their important work with those struggling to get by."
Shown above, TBF thankfully accepts John and Mary-Beth's generous gift of $12,000.
First Annual Fun Run
The First Annual Pelican Landing Fun Run, a 5k/1 mile run-walk organized by Steve Gunther and the Fitness Advisory Group, was held March 23, 2019 and raised over $12,000 to benefit TBF.
In addition to raising friends and funds for TBF, the event recognized Pelican Landing’s new designation as a Blue Zone Project community.
Steve announced that the participant bringing in the most donations for TBF would receive the Fun Run’s first Stiger Award, established in memory of ardent cyclist and PL resident Jim Stiger. This year’s winners were Stiger friends and fellow cyclists, Leslie and John Hill.
Sincerest thanks to all who participated in the Fun Run and to the many sponsors who supported it. A very special thank you to Steve and his team of volunteers for organizing this great event.
Bridge Builder Award
Dr. Rich Gilbert, of Pelican Landing Dental, is the very worthy recipient of TBF’s first Bridge Builder award. Dr. Rich has given graciously of his time and talents to help neighbors needing dental work, providing services from cleaning to fillings to full dentures.
The award was presented at the March 19th Bridge Fund Celebration at Pelican’s Nest Golf Club. "It's easy," Dr. Rich told the 200 Bridge Fund supporters in attendance. "I just go to work and do what I always do."
For your “generous service to neighbors in need,” thank you, Dr. Rich!
The Bridge Fund was honored to be the beneficiary of the first Aces Benefit Challenge on March 2, 2019. The Aces event included a tennis round robin with 96 players, raffles, and lunch, culminating in a happy hour and auction at the Nest attended by 150.
Team tennis players assembled raffle baskets and solicited auction items from more than 40 individuals and local businesses. Auctioneer Mike Tanielian enthusiastically and humorously brought in the bids, actually selling the Brooklyn Bridge (for $450) at one point!
Our heartfelt thanks to the Tennis Amenity Group, led by Caroline Crew and Ron Bloom, along with Dave Richardson and the tennis staff, for planning the full day of activities!
This community effort brought in over $23,000. Thanks to the generous support of Rebecca Richardson of Robert W. Baird and Bob Daggett of Premier Plus Realty Co., all proceeds went directly to TBF.
